In 2022, The Grief Center of Southwest Colorado:
- Provided 4000+ individual and group grief counseling sessions (more than a 4-fold increase since 2020)
- Contracted nine grief specialists
- Trained and supervised seven graduate school interns
- Collaborated with the Southern Ute Education Department to offer grief counseling to Southern Ute students
- Provided school-based grief services at Montezuma County Middle School and Southwest Open School in Cortez, CO
- Provided school-based grief services for the Mancos School District
- Provided grief-specific training to School District 9R behavioral and mental health staff
- Provided grief-specific training to San Juan BOCES and Silverton School staff
- Collaborated with La Plata Youth Services providing on-site school counseling for at risk bereaved students
- Offered on-site grief therapy for elders at rehab and senior centers Cottonwood Health and Sunshine Gardens
- Provided grief support to local businesses and schools after loss (3 business, 5 school districts)
- Worked with members of the restaurant industry following a rash of deaths by suicide in their community
- Held a successful online Survivors of Suicide Attempt group
- Expanded services in Rural La Plata County per 2020-2022 strategic plan initiatives
- Offered in-person Summer Grief Camps for Elementary and Middle School Students
- Offered monthly grief groups for children in La Plata County
- Started an ongoing grief group for bereaved parents (loss of spouse) of young children
- Facilitated GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing) monthly meetings
- Was named a Childhood Bereavement Changemaker by the New York Life Foundation and the JAG Institute and contributed to gathering regional data on childhood bereavement as part of this national effort
- Collaborated with San Juan Basin Health and the CODY Project to offer International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day programming and to facilitate monthly survivors of suicide loss groups
- Was awarded a grant by WPSU to create and deliver a public radio series in collaboration with KSUT and KDUR
- Was a featured panelist on WPSU’s Connecting Underserved Communities with Grief Support Services
- Was a featured panelist during suicide awareness week highlighting indigenous perspectives on suicide, a collaboration with the Southern Ute Behavioral Health Program and Fort Lewis College
- Supported Colorado residents affected by the mass shooting in Boulder
